Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzTurns absurdly misogynistic when it goes South of the border.
User ReviewPaul Dperfect dble feature with sam pechinpah's 'the wild bunch' this owes a big debt to the 1969 hit western that was also extremely bloody and violent.
User ReviewJonathan CTerrific flick! Richard Harris is awesome as usual, those of you that aren't film aficionados may remember him as The Duke of Death (Duck says I) from Eastwood's UNFORGIVEN or as Dumbeldore in the first Harry Potter flick. Just think of this as prequel to UNFORGIVEN. The Duck himself in the wild west, this is a chilling dark, moody, western in the same vein as Sam Peckinpah's THE WILD BUNCH. Having Neville Brand in your movie doesn't hurt either. I award this film 2500 bonus points for that bit of casting.
User ReviewMike MViolent revenge western focusing on a once pacifist sheriff now out for blood at any cost. Harris plays well in the lead, and shows great range as his character goes through an entire array of emotions. Examines questions of morality, duty and justice in believing fashion. Smells like (and unfolds) like spaghetti, even though it really isn't. Great supporting villains, too - including one with a piece of railroad track for a hand. Good, but short of great.
User ReviewJason NMovie that is very much in line with other Westerns of the early 70's. The Sergio Leone-Sam Peckinpah influence is present. Excellent cast, and the setting in old Mexico gives it a spaghetti Western/Wild Bunch feel.
User ReviewThomas BThe first few minutes of the film must have been damaged in storage , because it goes frame by frame till the bank robbery. The movie is ok, but kinda slow.
