| User ReviewRichard GMade in 1957,Victor Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) is a brilliant scientist who wants to create a supreme being of intellect, however the brain gets damged and he has created a Monster, this was the film that really cemented Hammer's place in horror history, yes 'The Abomnible Snowman' and 'The Quatermass Xperiment' came first but this is the film that really changed the brittish horror film industry. What i love about it is that the Baron Frankenstein has to become a monster himself to create the Creature,The Creature is played by fellow Hammer Stalwart Christopher Lee who plays the Monster as what the creation is intended to be- A Monster, there is more Dr.Frankenstein than there is of the Creature but i think it works well and is very different from Universal's Frankenstein,This was the first Hammer Horror i ever watched as a child so it has a special place for me this movie is a sterling example of the best of everything that made Hammer so special.A Horror Classic. |
