User ReviewChris M"The Chubbchubbs" does a great job in manipulating the viewer's mind. What I mean by this is that the viewer will automatically think that the so called "Chubbchubbs" are the big, monstrous-looking beasts, when in reality the chicken-looking creatures that the janitor is trying to protect are what everyone ran away from as soon as they heard the news that they were coming. I like stories like these, when a villain or antagonist ends up being the least expected character. Also, the viewer will feel empathy or even sympathy towards the janitor because even though he keeps failing or being kicked out of the bar, he keeps on trying to deliver the message that the "Chubbchubbs" are on their way. The janitor is a good-hearted character. The fable of this story is great, do good to others and never stop dreaming.
User ReviewChristopher CA great looking animated short. Humor is fairly amusing but not up to par with the likes of Pixar's shorts. The dvd has zero extras and should be moderately priced but isn't. Nonethless, sony is off to an amazing start with their animation.
User ReviewSteven VThe Chubbchubbs! is a nice animated short that won the Oscar in its category. There are a lot of references to science-fiction movies. Obvious references are Darth Vader, Yoda and Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars and we see E.T. in a bicycle. Harder to find but also there are references to Alien, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Lost in Space. This movie is fun because you can spot the little references, but without those things it is quite good anyway. The animations are very well done, the story has a nice little twist and simply said, it is funny. Most animated short movies have the biggest laugh in the end, The Chubbchubbs! is no exception, but there are quite some good moments before that as well.
User ReviewPrivate UIts a fun short animation but I'm surprised it won an Oscar and even more surprised no one was sued by George Lucas! The Chubbchubbs save Xmas is not as good but still fun.
User ReviewKayleigh PNot a bad short animation, quite funny in places!
