| User ReviewHeather PThis is one of those movies where everyone's subplot is connected and everything happens for a reason. The ways that the little girl copes with death are realistic. At various times she's understanding, in shock, in denial, or breaking things. The family that temporarily takes her in don't know how to feel about the situation either. Mark is happier than ever to have light back in his life, but he is also very depressed by the old memories that are dredged up. In a way, he's relieved to finally be able to grieve instead of burying his feelings in his work. Patty's sharp edges are slightly softened by the situation, but her husband's sudden joy makes Patty's numbness and stone cold front even more pronounced. Her distance has actually pushed her mother away to the point where her mother comes by mainly just to visit Mark. Although the movie has a happy ending, keep the tissues handy. |
| User ReviewDanielle WAfter the recent loss of her son Sean-a minor character in The Christmas Blessing-Patty Addison (Madeleine Stowe) devotes herself to finding homes for needy children. The loss of Sean has strained Patty's relationship with her husband Mark, an airline pilot. But they reconnect emotionally when they take in Emily, a 9-year-old orphaned in a car accident similar to the one that killed Sean. At the same time Dr. Nathan Andrews-the one character that connects the entire film trilogy-is trying to find the parents of a boy who died in the ER, and Mark is trying to help one of his son's friends. By the end of the film, all three stories are intertwined as they all look for Emily, who has run away. |
