User Review - 10/10 by Del HI love ALL of Sir Norman's films, but this one is a Fave!! A comic genius, he is the Yoda of the comedy acting World.
User Review - 8/10 by Jason HJust think of a carry on film without the smutty innuendo. Daft and zany situations abound and helps make this a nice 'smile' movie.
User Review - 6/10 by jeremy eNot much profundity here, but an interesting cast, including John le Mesurier, Oliver Reed & even Michael Caine in a minor role. The little man as hero is a concept dear to my heart. That puts me in the same category as Enver Hoxha. I'm fairly comfy with that, esp. in today's world.
User Review - 6/10 by Greg WCan't beat a bit of Norman Wisdom of a Saturday teatime.
User Review - 6/10 by Allen DNorman Wisdom joins the Navy and is an even bigger nuisance than usual. Thankfully he's surrounded by a particularly choice cast this time including Liz Fraser, Peter Jones, Frank Williams, Sheila Hancock, John Le Mesurier and many more. Even Oliver Reed and Michael Caine! Plus a pre-Ken Barlow William Roache in the second and last (to date) film of his career.
User Review - 6/10 by Harvey Bcomedy about the misadventures of a michevious half-wit, leading him from being a small-time sailor, to being in the navy after a series of foiled suicide attempts. The movie started out very funny, especially the sequence of events leading up to and including the suicide attempts that went so wrong. You actually started to feel sorry for this guy. Unfortunately, not long after this, the plot became a bit annoying, and the main character, Norman, became more and more unlikable. Following events that became too unlikely - ending with this moron being sent to on a space mission... In the end, the movie was filled with slap-stick, silliness in the vein of the great Jerry Lewis... unfortunately, Norman didn't really have the charm of Jerry Lewis to pull it off.
