He's an artful dodger, so Martine, a former model with a thing for him, brings him her scheme: a bank's alarm is off for a couple weeks, so let's tunnel into the vault. He assembles a team, not realizing her real goal is a safe-deposit box with compromising photos of a royal: she needs the photos to trade for avoiding a jail sentence - and MI-5, or is it MI-6, is pulling the strings two steps removed. A Trinidadian thug, a high-end bordello owner, and a pornographer also have things stored in the vault, so the break-in threatens many a powerful personage. Movie Reviews

Entertainment Weekly - 9/10 by Owen GleibermanOne of the pleasures of The Bank Job is that it returns us to the days when robbing a bank was a gritty, hole-in-the-wall affair.
Baltimore Sun - 9/10 by Michael SragowThe gritty heist picture The Bank Job has everything adult action fans could want, starting with a grand, fact-inspired gimmick.
Charlotte Observer - 8/10 by Lawrence ToppmanStatham fans weaned on the adrenaline flowing through "The Transporter" and "Crank" may feel short-changed, but the rest of us can appreciate the unassuming, old-fashioned craftsmanship of The Bank Job, which is based on a true-life heist.
Christian Science Monitor - 8/10 by Peter RainerNothing more than an efficient time-killer with the added bonus of being based on a real misadventure. But, unlike its benighted cast of characters, it gets the job done without a hitch.
Rolling Stone - 8/10 by Peter TraversDull title for a juicy, fact-based caper movie that's full of surprises I have no intention of spoiling.
ReelViews - 8/10 by James BerardinelliA heist movie in the classic tradition - it details every aspect of the caper, from its genesis to its aftermath. The fact that there's political intrigue and espionage swirling around the edges only makes it more fascinating.
Premiere - 8/10 by Glenn KennyThe suspense aspect works like mad, but what's also noteworthy is the character component, which at times evokes a "Smash Palace"-era Donaldson.
Seattle Post-Intelligencer - 8/10 by Sean AxmakerBased more on rumor and supposition than fact. It's a highly entertaining set of hypotheses.
TV Guide Magazine - 8/10 by Maitland McDonaghA surprisingly tight, clever, twisty heist tale.
New York Post - 8/10 by Kyle SmithJason Statham, possibly the greatest B-movie leading man of this era, stars in a complicated and clever imagining of what might have happened in the mysterious 1971 London bank heist dubbed the "Walkie-Talkie Robbery" - in other words, it was unbelievably high-tech.
