| User ReviewJeff ZWow! I'm the first person on Facebook to see this excellent movie? A East German film about two high school friends who join the German Army in world war two. One Gilbert, becomes a fanatical "fight until the last man" Nazi. The other has his doubts, especially seeing the way the Reich treats his father, the Jews and any dissenters. He sees Germans shooting other Germans. He finds a grusome scene at a sawmill. He also gets a LOT of female action, beginning with a brunette factory worker and including a blonde tennis player and a Major's wife. Terrific perfromance by Klau-Peter Thiele and outstanding direction by Joachim Kunert. A very well made anti-war film that never gets preachy or self-rightous. |
