Mac receives a call from his former boss, Captain O'Hagen (Cox), to gather the group and meet for a fishing trip in Canada. Once the group arrives, they find that O'Hagen's intention had been for them to have a meeting with Vermont Governor Jessman (Carter). She explains that during a recent land survey, it was discovered that land in Canada was originally designated for the US. Canada has agreed to hand over the land, and Gov. Jessman needs to set up a police department to take over from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the region. Leave your thoughts about Super Troopers 2.
ABC Radio BrisbaneMatthew ToomeyIn the original Super Troopers, about 50% of jokes hit the mark. I'd argue that percentage is a little lower this time around.
The Monitor (McAllen, TX)Brooke CorsoFor fans of the 2001 original, it's great to watch the rebels back in action where the world is their stage and the invisible roar of the crowd drives them on to keep performing their clown act until they die.
TrespassAlex DoenauFor fans of the original, Super Troopers 2 has enough of that Broken Lizard flavour that they've been craving for almost two decades.
AXS.comTom SantilliThe surprise will come when they learn that this sequel re-enforces a very important virtue: Be careful what you wish for.
FilmDrunkVincent ManciniAbout two thirds of the way through it takes a hard left and starts the sad-but-expected process of retelling old jokes, but before that it's surprisingly entertaining.
Aisle SeatMike McGranaghanHappily, Super Troopers 2 is every bit as stupid as its predecessor.
The New York TimesGlenn KennyThe antics never out-and-out surprise, but they almost never fail to amuse.
Paste MagazineAndrew CrumpJuvenile is as juvenile does, but the Broken Lizard fellows supplement their puerile nonsense with abiding endearment. They’re idiots, but sincere, disarming idiots. Like the characters they play in both movies, they mean well, but meaning well comes in second to antics when spending your career making concerted efforts to avoid responsibility.
UproxxVince ManciniSuper Troopers 2 is broad and hammy, like a lot of comedy, but unlike a lot, it makes little pretense to realism. It’s proud dad humor. It pokes you in the ribs enough times that the obnoxiousness eventually takes on a weird charm.
Your Movies (cleveland.com)John UrbancichOpening segment cameos from Seann William Scott ("American Pie" movies) and Damon Wayans Jr. ("Let's Be Cops") offers an immediate tip-off to the kind of dopey depravity in store for the next 90 minutes. Some is even laugh-out-loud funny.
