When the charismatic Sepp Piontek resigns as manager of the national Danish football team, the logical successor is his assistant, Richard Møller Nielsen (played by Ulrich Thomsen). Richard's reign as manager turns into a catastrophe and the team fails to qualify for Euro 1992. But suddenly, due to UN sanctions, Yugoslavia is out of the Euro and Denmark is in.
