Leave your thoughts about Starry Starry Night.
Toronto StarAnita LiA whimsical coming-of-age tale that takes a common theme - growing pains - and transforms it through exquisitely rendered CG effects and a heartfelt storyline.
New York TimesJeannette CatsoulisCrammed with color and imagination, every one of Jake Pollock's gorgeously photographed images feels timelessly suspended between innocence and awareness.
Georgia StraightMichelle da SilvaThe opulent visuals and special effects in Starry Starry Night are reason enough to take in this film.
Urban CinefileAndrew L. UrbanBeautifully photographed and tenderly scored, Starry Starry Night is a coming of age story with fantasy elements that appeal to all pre-teens, whatever their culture
Boxoffice MagazineInkoo KangThough rife with clichés, Starry Starry Night has just enough nostalgic melancholy and quiet whimsy to make its coming-of-age narrative and elegy to childhood emotionally and visually compelling.
Los Angeles TimesRobert AbeleThe cumulative effect is more that of a handsomely crafted museum piece than a moving, emotional journey.
User ReviewMatthew SThough it may be a little to languidly paced for some folks, and yes it has subtitles, I can't think of a single thing wrong with this movie. Gorgeously shot, ace acting, and heartfelt throughout.
User ReviewBarbara FSecond best movie I saw at this year's Heartland Film Festival, beautiful love story
User ReviewCarlos GMy favorite Asian movie. I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING. The OST, the actors, the plots, the 'sad parts' (which teared me up quite a lot). Highly recommended!
User ReviewLingual TAn awesome piece of work. In my opinion, it is never easy to adapt a book to screen without losing the flavour and essence the author had intended. Not to mention, it was an illustration book by renowned illustrator Jimmy Liao. Yet, director Tom was able to marry fantasy and reality and weave it so beautifully in his film. It was most dreamy journey for me sitting in the theatre watching the movie. The cast was perfect. Josie Xu was beautiful and natural even as a 13-yr old girl and enjoyed impeccable chemistry with newcomer Eric Lin. To me, this is one of the best adapted screenplays, and definitely going to be one of my all-time favourite films too.
