User Review - 8/10 by Devon WOne of the best schlocky b horror movies of the 80's. First movie I saw as a kid where a kid gets killed; that traumatized the hell out of me. "Holy crap, kids can die?! Everything I know is a lie!". Great fun and an under-appreciated film, despite it's ample amount of flaws.

A giant haunted mansion. a half man half cat butler. a giant spider woman. a cellar full of farting zombies. Big breasted idiots and stupid as hell jocks dying all over the place. and so so much more. ive seen it 15 times and its still weird as hell and awesome.

User Review - 6/10 by Sally AThis really wasn't bad! Quite a bit different to all the slasher/monster films of the late seventies/early eighties. 'Spookies' takes a different and wacky path. I loved all the different monsters, even though they looked horribly cheap at times, it still worked. I had watched this as a kid and found it quite scary - well its definitely not scary now but it certainly was quite a bit of fun. A nice little 80's horror gem, not to be missed for fans.

User Review - 6/10 by Lee ?Strange and crazy but entertaining cult 80's horror featuring a plethora of enjoyably chessy monster make-up effects giving life to the likes of zombies, demons, giant spiders and other undescribable creatures. It's a stupid film no doubt, with a plot full of nonsense and a cast full of cannon fodder, but there's enough entertainment value to give any lover of bad low-budget horror a good nights viewing.
User Review - 6/10 by Candice MWhen I was a little kid, this movie scared the daylights out of me. This movie is certainly spooky in more ways than one. A powerful and evil sorcerer who resides in the house of the spookies has been luring in victims for many years, forcing them to undergo horrible deaths in an effort to raise his bride from the dead. When the cast arrives at the house, the sorcerer knows that, with their souls, he will finally have enough in his possession to bring his wife back. The sorcerer Pierre kicks off his literal chess game by turning one of the white pawns to his dark side, before Carol helps him take care of the others with a rather bizarre Ouija board. One by one, the cast is killed off by reptilian creatures, zombies, man-eating-earth, the grim reaper, and a scary spider lady. All-around, the movie is a bit cheesy, and the plot fairly basic, but the special effects are fairly good given the time of the film's making, and the soundtrack music would give many people the creeps. The whole gang of main characters also has one that falls into every possible horror movie stereotype. Any horror fanatic who has yet to see this should give it a spin, even if it is just for kicks.
