Film ThreatAlan NgAll I can do is be honest. Spent is a really bad movie.
User ReviewAdam DLoved the concept, funny story. It's definitely clever. A lot of great acting and the writing was super witty. Really solid filmmaking on display here.
User ReviewStephen KI love a good dark comedy! This was definitely one. It was full of quirky characters with surprises. And it had a nice twist that I didn't see coming. Well done to director Lisa Mikitarian!
User ReviewVincent RIf you enjoy dark humour with a twisted sense of humor, SPENT is for you. It is a quirky story about a mother and son who find themselves facing a family tragedy not with dismay but with delight. The characters are all pretty full on, and it won't be to everyone's taste, but if you are open to something a little different SPENT is certainly worth a watch. Behind the humour there are deeper messages and some interesting life lessons so it's easy to see why the film did so well on the festival circuit. You may never look at squirrels in the same way!
User ReviewBrian GI'm a big fan of dark comedies and this definitely didn't let me down. There are some laugh-out-loud moments in this absurd and quirky film that delves into some pretty dark subject matter. It's not all jokes as there are definitely some solid wisdom sprinkled in throughout. Looking forward to see whats next from this director
User ReviewDavid WThis was a fun dark comedy. Excellent writing and acting. Solid independent film.
User ReviewPatricia SFun movie with a very unique tone! As someone who is a sucker for old music / musicals, the film captured me at the start. I love the vintage feel & strong production value. On first glance it might look fluffy, but don't be fooled! There are clever details interwoven throughout. Thumbs up.
User ReviewGustavo LVery entertaining dark comedy, nice humor and dramatic subtext that reveals how crazy human behavior can be.
User ReviewJuliane BA dark comedy in which lead Connie Lamothe really convinces. It's funny and daring in it's use of black and white footage mixed with colour, but overall it pans out. The underlying topics of management of your finances and women being dependent on their partners' income put a serious sublayer into the comedy, which I personally really like. The cinematography, score and production design are solid, maybe a tiny bit of a shorter edit would have been great. All in all highly recommended!
