Leave your thoughts about Soldier of Orange.
Boston GlobeMichael BlowenSoldier of Orange is a movie made by filmmakers whose war experiences were created from watching films and reading books. They can't pass off their second generation insights with the guts and glory of the men who fought the fight.
Spirituality and PracticeFrederic and Mary Ann BrussatSoldier of Orange offers an involving look at the horrors of war.
User ReviewRobert DAmazing war film about the Dutch resistance. Rutger Hauer is wonderfully charismatic in the lead role.
User ReviewDeadly VExcellent WWII thriller by Paul Verhoeven. This is undoubtedly one of the classic movies i have ever seen, i am really surprised to see that none of my friends have actually seen this wonderful movie(guys you people have really missed a great film). This is really one of those movies which should be viewed by everyone at least once before they leave this planet. Strongly recommended to everyone...
User ReviewKevin MNothing like Verhoeven or Hauer's North American films in later years, outstanding film following six university students and their actions (and the resulting consequences) in dealing with the Nazi occupation of Holland in WWII.
User ReviewPaul ZThis is still one of my all time favorites, but then I'm dutch and this is a classic in my country!
User ReviewPatryk MFor sake of comparison to the Black Book and only,Soldier of Orange is one of the primary illusions of the WWII aristocratic prosperity,a feast of irony and nostalgia amongst the company of friends in the beginning, dementia and agony in the end.Krabbe's performance crushes Pianists and juvenile Readers.Placed in 1977 greatest films.
User ReviewYui SI've started watching Verhoeven movies and found this. I need to watch it again. The soundtrack is still sounding in my head. Made me feel dumb after watching Black Book. I expected something similar and found much more. Now what i find hard is to relate this to Robocop and the american movies Verhoeven has made... This is making me think... and that's good XD
User ReviewDaria MOne of the greatest films of its time. A picture of war with exquisite taste of reality to it, without American-style good-bad, black-white conclusions. Great acting, Verhoeven and Houer before Hollywood and most memorable. One of the best war films ever made.
User ReviewJosh GI am of the opinion that Paul Verhoeven should now and forever stay the hell away from the American movie industry, and just make films about the Dutch Resistance.
