Sarasota Herald-TribuneChristopher LloydThis well-done World War II film takes an almost documentary-like look at the battle to destroy the mighty German warship.

User Reviewmike aAs a naval historian I often have real issues with the over dramatasiation of WW2 films and the fast and loose attitude to the truth. This film deals with one of the most dramatic and critical moments in the battle of the atlantic in WW2 and I am thankful the producer realised there was enough drama without needing to add more. It does not glorify the action nor portray the Germans as an evil race. It sticks to the story closely and builds to the inevitable but breathtaking finale. Great performances from some respected actors and some original footage. I always settle down and watch this whenever it is on Tv Watch It

User ReviewWilliam MOne of my favourite WWII films. Not only does it show the history of the hunt and sinking of the Bismarck in true colours, but it also shows the humanity and heroism of both sides in the conflict. This is one of the few films which I cry when watching.
User ReviewSean CThe classic World War II movie that I always want to watch here and than. This movie showcases perhaps the most epic war-story of WWII naval era. Bismarck as being the state-of-the-art unsinkable German battle-ship armed to the teeth against the British with vanity getting the better of both sides. British losing their prized battleship HMS Hood in 5 minutes to the Bismarck and it's commander convinced that the ship can survive and escape the whole British fleet which is sent to sink her at all costs. The movie despite being almost 50 years old has convincing battle sequences which marry very well with the orginal WWII style war footage and captures this tale of this war saga very well. Highly recommended for anyone intrested in WWII and its naval engagements.
