Movie Reviews

Ozus' World Movie Reviews - 9/10 by Dennis SchwartzThis is the first entry in Universal's modernized version of the Sherlock Holmes series.
IdentityTheory - 7/10 by Phil HallJohn Rawlins, normally a minor director, did a smashing job in framing the story with moody noir-style cinematography.
Goatdog's Movies - 4/10 by Michael W. Phillips, Jr.It almost completely lacks the moody atmosphere and tight pacing of the previous two films.
User Review - 10/10 by Jezzy ABasil Rathbone is the best Sherlock Holmes Ever.
User Review - 10/10 by Martin AHolmes and Watson must outwit the terror of the German Nazi party, thrilling stuff an outstanding classic
User Review - 8/10 by robert bThe first "modern" era Holmes adventure. This is one of the best in the "modern" series of Universal's treatment of classic detective. This film definitely reflects its times. The war was raging in Europe and the enemy is the NAZIs. This leads to all kinds of great lines about the evilness of the NAZIs. While it may be politically incorrect in retrospect, it is a great treat to see the patriotism that rallied the sleeping giant once again.
User Review - 8/10 by Bill TAs much as I was dreeding time travelling Sherlock Holmes (he's magically transported to WW II England because the filmmakers made it so) this was surprisingly engaging and interesting and suspenseful. A radio broadcast from the Nazis telling of awful crimes keeps Britain on edge. Higher Ups bring in H & W almost out of desoeration to find out where these broadcasts are coming from. And, just like any other mystery, Holmes does his best to solve it, using many different little clues. Not really a whodunit but more of a political espionage flick, this was quite enjoyable.
User Review - 8/10 by Andy CAn exciting movie based on the famous detective.
User Review - 8/10 by Jeff ZGod I love those Basil Rathbone movies. They just don't do convincing melodrama like that anymore...
User Review - 8/10 by Robert PThis was the first of the Sherlock Holmes Rathbone / Bruce films to be set in modern times, WW2 as opposed to late 19th century. A pretty good story involving the bad guys of the day, Nazis. The big distraction in this is Basil Rathbones hair, I can only describe it as very weird.
