Leave your thoughts about Saints and Soldiers: The Void.
Spectrum (St. George, Utah)Bruce BennettA dialogue-heavy, almost action-free story that lacks compelling performances or engaging tension.
Deseret News (Salt Lake City)Josh TerryThe Void often seems too concerned with its uplifting message that's obvious to the audience, where more subtlety and a "show, don't tell" method might have resonated with more power.
User ReviewNick CThis franchise seems to get worse and worse with each film. What was "The Void" about? In the past all the other Saints and Soldiers seemed to have a Christian based theme, this was just... Random. The actors I thought were interesting, the scripts and the acting had, lets say, A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. Barely made it through the movie, hoping some redeeming factor could be found, but just like the whole movie, it continued to disappoint, in every regard. I expect more from Ryan Little and Producer Adam Abel, but everyone has a bad day right...or in this case a bad movie.
User ReviewKathryn PSaints and Soldiers: The Void is a well done movie. I highly recommend it.
User ReviewTimbo BThis little entertaining film is like the "Little Engine that Could." It gets off to a slow start but once the action picks up you know where it is going. Funny is not usually something you'd say about a war movie but with Matt Meese of studio C, this movie has some good laughs. The tanks are the real stars of this film about race, war and sacrifice. When the laughs fade and the lights turn on, what you'll remember is the lives that were lost to bring us freedom from tyranny and racial inequality.
User ReviewMichael DI liked it. The star was the M18 "Hellcat", the tank destroyer used by the Gi's. Nice to see a piece of history in action. No big name stars, but good performances. tension didn't build as it should have; story was kind of corny, but I felt good after seeing it. That's how I rate a movie.
User ReviewNick U1/16/15 Amazon Prime I do like this franchise and this was an OK film, certainly nothing award worthy but decent for its genre. The dialogue a bit cheesy, especially the race relations side but all in all an entertaining 90 minutes.
User ReviewMayank AB grade production values, still a decent movie. It's without the dazzle and sizzle of Hollywood production but packs in genuinity of war.
User ReviewYoshi SThere are a few plot holes & some acting is a little wooden / obvious & characters frustratingly lack a little 'get up & go' with each other, but it's not a bad film all in all, good to see some tank vs tank & anti-tank battles, as well as a bit of humanity thrown in between....
User ReviewTristan MIn a sense similar to the second film of the franchise, but with a new focus, the tanks. Tanks are a hard thing to film well, as is shown in this movie, and it's hard to get the vehicles and shots you need to make the film look good. This movie somewhat lacks that. It has the tanks, but not the shots, and generally seems cheap and low budget, which it is. The acting is pretty poor, and is the dialogue and script, and the cinematography is 'basic'. The race thing is ok, but it seems like it's too much at times. I don't know for sure but I have doubts about there being a black regiment that drove the Hellcat operationally in WWII, or any tank for that matter. The effects are poor, notably the gun flashes, sounds, or bullet impacts, which takes away a lot from the action. With the small scale of the movie and budget it's to be expected, but still is disappointing. The German soldier killing his own commander to save the British guy was something I really didn't like, and so was the shooting the Panzer with the panzerfaust. I would have preferred a tank vs tank ending, and even if they did use the panzerfaust why did they use it from underground? As long as the charge hit any armour on the Panzer WITHOUT hitting the side skirts first would have penetrated it, so hitting from the bottom was pointless. Anyways overall the movie was a lot like the second in terms of feel, not really better although they gave it a good effort. Paying tribute to the blacks that didn't get recognized in the war is a good idea, but doesn't really work all that great here.
