Beyond ensuring that she makes it into Julliard as a flautist for the upcoming fall term, wealthy Lillian and Roger Barkley largely neglect their teenaged daughter, Terry Barkley. Although Terry doesn't try to hide the facts from them, her parents have no idea that she hates the flute and the associated music, has no desire to attend Julliard, and spends all her time on the proverbial wrong side of the tracks with her friend Lana roller skating on the Venice Beach boardwalk with the legions of other roller skaters. There, she attracts the attention of Bobby James, the hotshot skater who rightly believes he is headed to the next Olympics. Terry initially rebuffs Bobby's advances, until she asks him to teach her how to dance so that they can compete in the upcoming roller boogie contest at Jammer's, the local skating rink owned by Jammer Delaney, a former roller derby star. Terry and Bobby's relationship eventually becomes more than just about skating. But the roller boogie contest and by association Terry and Bobby's relationship is threatened when they learn that Thatcher, a cutthroat land developer, has physically threatened Jammer and anyone around Jammer, including the kids at the rink, unless Jammer signs a contract to hand over the roller rink property to him for redevelopment. The situation is even worse for Terry when she learns she has a personal albeit indirect connection to Thatcher.

Antagony & EcstasyTim BraytonIt's all but impossible to imagine a 103-minute narrative that includes a broader range of the mustiest clichés known to humankind.

User ReviewRobert CDear god, I hope they never remake this movie! Linda Blair, â??Fuck me Jesus, fuck me,â?? last attempt at stardom after the Exorcist. Utter fail. She attempts to reenact the 'twisty head thing' during the scene with the matched outfits. I give this a 2/10 even though it is by far the worst movie ever made, I would like to highlight that it did have a reckless disregard for what was appropriate. I pity the children that came of age in 1978. This has definite camp potential for the future.
User ReviewDoc Btheres a shed load of things to look out 4 in this film: the lead actor sounds like he's got a peg on his nose and wears a 'HEVEN' tee shirt. while 'jammer' is being threatened a goon bends a screwdriver !!! jammer shows his fear by not moveing his face ... and then, not 2 minutes later, he is paraleticly drunk stumbling down the stairs.?? watch out 4 the 'THIS IS MY 15 MINUTES, HERE I GO..' fella spinning around in the background after Blair says to Bobby 'can we talk' [or she says something like that] and Bobby says ' ive just gotta do something' gets up, jumps around in the air and sits back down] ... WHEN GOONES GET OUT OF THEIR MOTOR [ THEY ARE PACKING HEAT BY THE WAY] ...A GOON EVEN BECKONS THE ROLLER SKATERS AS HE WALKS TOWARDS THEM. then a lone skaters shouts ... "GET THE DUDES WITH THE FRUIT!"... and the goons run away? [....watch out 4 the MELLON hitting the door of the car lol . theres a fucking great 'THUD' as it explodes] theres loads more, but im 2 lazy to write any more.
