Full Plot Details

4 short films by a quartet of directors. Rosselini's 'Chastity' ('Illibatezza') deals with an attractive air hostess who receives the unwelcome attentions of a middle aged American. Godard's 'New World' ('Il Nuovo Mondo') illustrates a post-apocalyptic world the same as the pre-apocalyptic one, but for an enigmatic change in attitude in most people, including the central character's girlfriend. Pasolini's 'Curd Cheese' ('La Ricotta'), a lavish film about the life of Jesus Christ is being made in a poor area. The people subject themselves to various indignities in the name of moviemaking (and to get some food). The central character's hoisted up on a cross for filming, and dies there. Finally, Gregoretti's 'Free Range Chicken' ('Il Pollo Ruspante') in which a materialist family inadvertently shows the cynical, metallic-voiced doctrine of a top sales theorist.

User Review - 10/10 by Filippo GWonderful movie. Especially the 4th episode - Il Pollo Ruspante (Free range Chicken) - makes the whole movie worth: a brilliant and hilarious depiction of how advertisement science controls people mind. No modern movie ever made such a precise and quick analysis. Don't miss it. (easy to find the full movie on YouTube with english subtitles)

User Review - 8/10 by Generoso FA collection of four films by Rossellini, Godard, Pasolini and Gregoretti that has only been released in the US on VHS. Pasolini's entry, "La Ricotta" is a brilliant examination on religion but due to an outdated law which was still on the books in Italy at the time of the film's creation he (Pasolini) was jailed for defying the church of the state. A balanced collection of work from the other directors but this short is amongst the finest work of Pasolini's career.
User Review - 6/10 by Little BFour directors and four episodes different as in style as in content. Trivial but nice the Rossellini's episode, too pretentious but refined the Godard's story. Pasolini's film sums up all his political and religious vision, while the Gregoretti's one is a funny critique of consumerism.
