Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzTepid hokum adventure tale from Cecil B. De Mille.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyA product of its time, DeMille's epic spectacle has preposterous plot but the undersea effects are good and so are the performances; hard to believe but Ray Milland was bigger name than Wayne, who gets second billing and deviates from his screen image
User ReviewAnna NJohn Wayne fights a squid! How cool is that!?
User ReviewLeigh ROne of the few films where you won't see John Wayne portraying a cowboy :). Wonderful movie.

User ReviewGreg W12 Years before '20,000 Leagues under the Sea' came out featuring a giant squid, 'Reap the Wild Wind' hit the screens. And the squid here and under water action is second to none. John Wayne also gives one of his most expressive performances, if not heroic. DeMille's "middle-period' is hands down my favorite - after the silents and before the 50s. Great pic.
User ReviewDave MSome fine work with the ships in this film
User ReviewRick Mthis is a great paulette goddard and john wayne film about the West Indies Shipping/Trade Company and a plot to sink a ship on purpose. This was one of the first Hollywood films Wayne starred in and actually used special graphics for the Giant Squid battle scene...I won't spoil the end of the movie..check it out!
User Reviewjay nFlorid, over the top De Mille epic, is there any other kind? The technicolor is vivid, the costumes are beautiful and the acting is enjoyably over the top, with the exception of Susan Hayward who, honey chile accent notwithstanding, gives a sweet, real performance amongst all the scenery chewing.
