Sci-Fi Weekly - 8/10 by Staci Layne WilsonWhile I can't say I really enjoyed Rabies (the story is just too tired and the characters too stock, for someone raised on horror movies), I do respect its fine filmmaking.
Lessons of Darkness - 7/10 by Nick SchagerRabies' ideas about mankind's penchant for hostility are generic and monotonous.
sbs.com.au - 6/10 by Simon FosterKeshales' and Papushado's sublime cross-cutting of the film's chronology builds a terrific tension and amplifies every unexpected twist for maximum impact.
User Review - 10/10 by Andy LThe first horror film to come out of Israel and it really is something special. Such a wonderful film
User Review - 10/10 by Dayna NI don't want to give to much away about this Israeli film because I hate to read a review that gives too much info and then I'm waiting for something to happen that was written in that tell tale review or it's in the back of my mind and I keep thinking which one, when and where. I will tell you that I enjoyed this Subtitled slasher/thriller/black comedy more than I have enjoyed any film in quite awhile. It is very light on the comedy but it's just enough so it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are also some good effects and plenty of blood. It starts out with a serial killer/maniac in the woods who captures a woman in a trap and from there it goes into a multitude of mistaken identity's, mistrusts and betrayals as a foursome of twenty somethings get lost and make a wrong turn into The Killer's domain. Enter two cops an older couple and their dog and the fun and mayhem begins. I loved it..Bravo
User Review - 8/10 by Mike Nawesome original horror movie and darkly funny. I enjoyed it.
User Review - 8/10 by Nfs RA brother and sister who have run away from home. A car full of teens who have taken a wrong turn. A park ranger and his wife. Two questionable cops. What do all of these people have in common? They are lost in the woods with a psychopathic serial killer, who has set a series of sinister traps all throughout the park. RABIES is touted as being Israel's first venture into the Slasher genre, and it makes quite an entrance! Writer/Director team Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado take what would normally be familiar characters, settings, and situations, and create something wholly original. The pair introduce us to five distinct sets of characters, and manage to strike an intricate balance between them as the film progresses. Each new scene brings new surprises and unexpected twists at every turn, keeping audience members on edge from beginning to end! Keshales and Papushado have a gift for framing and editing each shot for maximum impact, which drives the tension and pitch-black humor higher than ever. Sharper than SEVERANCE, more clever than THE COTTAGE... RABIES takes the game of survival to a whole new level! -Carl Manes I Like Horror Movies
User Review - 8/10 by Jason BOn the surface it's a nasty piece of work. But if you look deeper you'll find the filmmakers trying hard to suppress their laughter.
User Review - 8/10 by Matt SA very clever horror flick, with some good cold-humour, and very good actors. It's to horror genre, what was Blood simple to the "noir-movie" genre.
User Review - 8/10 by The Movie WOn a fox reserve, a group of strangers encounter the darkness within themselves and the evil that surrounds them. -A brother and sister with a very...sordid...past struggles to re-connect after the sister is kidnapped by a killer -A group of students have their car break down after hitting a man, and they split up and chaos ensues, especially when the cops arrive -A man is working with his dog when he uncovers a deadly secret and tries to help, but ends up succumbing to the darkness This was Israel's first horror film ever made, and the directors started the genre off with a bang. The interesting twist in the film is that there really isn't a killer (the actual killer spends most of the time unconscious), but rather it delves into our own personal psyches, and what we would do once it seems civilization has become corrupt. A great story, a great script and terrific acting, "Rabies" is a great international horror film.
