Oh, and the Pope. POPE DREAMS is about a directionless nineteen-year old boy, Andy Venable, who works for his hard-case dad in a store warehouse during the day and plays drums in a loud heavy-metal band at night. His only clear goal at the moment is to get his sick mother, a devout Catholic, to meet the Pope before she dies. While he's busy with that, he falls for a girl who's totally out of his league and gets discovered by two Broadway producers for a musical talent that just might be his true calling. Andy's a dreamer. But dreaming is easy. It's reality that's hard.

DVDTalk.comDavid CorneliusThe set-ups seem familiar but the payoffs are fresh and honest.
User ReviewDon JIf you enjoyed ?Juno,? ?The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio,? and ?Waitress,? you will love this movie! Well paced screenplay with sincere, realistic dialogue. You know it is great acting when they don?t even look like they are acting. Teenagers are not the only people who have angst. Will make my list of best movies I?ve seen in 2009.
User ReviewPrivate UA pleasant surprise of a film. I think the word "nice" describes it well.
User ReviewJeffrey LA cute movie. Nothing terribly special, but not insanely cliche, either. Good acting, good plot, and the pictures during the credits revealing the fate of "Helen" was a nice little burst of feel good in an otherwise quite emotional movie.
User ReviewLDrock SA sweet poignant film about a young man trying to find himself and cope with his mother's death and father's pressure to grow up. Great acting by Phillip Vaden.
User ReviewDorothy Ialthough the story isn't extraordinary it's woth watchin. I found smtg familliar. The parents were gold.
User ReviewRadek CIt doesn't seem like a popular movie on Facebook :] anyway, it was average, nothing special, a bit sad, a bit teenage-like, a bit promising... something not requiring too much of my attention while watching.
User ReviewEric MIn a perfect world everything goes the way we planed, unfortunately the world is far from perfect and things scarcely workout the way we want. As seen in this film, sometimes life has different plans for us and those we love.
User ReviewLee MWriter/director Patrick Hogan fills his debut effort "Pope Dreams" with all sorts of contrivances, then cleverly finds ways to not make them contrivances. The set-ups seem familiar but the payoffs are fresh and honest.
User ReviewCheri Hthis movie was decent & then the ending made me want to KILL someone! & not in a "oh, so sad" kind of way, but in a, "what was the shittiest ending to a film EVER!" kind of way
