IGN MoviesMartin RobinsonDisposable fun that's near certain to put a smile on your face - and that's something we've not been able to say about a videogame adaptation for some time.
User ReviewHayden NIf you like Layton Games (like me) you?ll love the movie. If you are unfamiliar with the series then this will still be a fun and charming movie for you to see.
User ReviewJonathan WActually the best video game movie of all time - so much that IT'S CANON IN THE SERIES. That tells you already that this movie is phenomonal, even after like 14 views. If you want to get into the Professor Layton series, grab a copy of The Last Specter and pop in this movie while you play the game - you won't be dissapointed.
User Reviewa aCharming mystery story. The story gets a bit absurd in the third act, but the atmosphere and characters make it a wonderful journey.
User ReviewJonas BI have seen this movie a couple of times and it's an awesome one! This movie doesn't ad up to the believe that Every movie based on video games are bad. This is even essential to the storyline throughout the franchise. If you're a fan of this game you'll like this very much. To those who don't know anything about this franchise, in the beginning of the movie there's a fast introduction of the most important characters. Please watch it because you won't regret it :)
User ReviewAndy OI thought this film was very enjoyable. The Japanese are brilliant at this stuff. If it was a western production I'm sure it would flop and be a rubbish story line but I have to say this didn't disappoint. OK, so there's not over 100 puzzles like a Professor Layton game but I was pretty impressed that they included some at all and they also had the widely recognizable annoying trademark music in the background whilst the characters tried to solve it. If you like the game, you'll like the movie, similar format and they haven't changed anything dramatically. They even have the same voice-actor playing Layton and Luke in the English version which is always a plus in my book!
User ReviewTyler HThe animation is pleasing to the eyes and matches the cutscenes from the video games. It has an enticing story and memorable music.
User ReviewLane SGreat movie, with a great game series behind it!
User ReviewSamuel GHands down the best video game-based film yet made. A charming story and familiar aesthetic keeps this film lovingly close to its source material, producing an experience that is exactly what one would want from a full-length Professor Layton film. If you loved the games, this film is exactly what you would envision it being.
