Leave your thoughts about Prelude: Dog Star Man.
Bryant Frazer's Deep FocusBryant FrazerA jaw-dropping declaration of principles.
User ReviewGarry JThis film explores what Brakhage calls "closed eye vision". The first in his Dog Star Man series, ths is an experimental film that has no sound and a kaleidoscope of images with flashing colours, superimposed images and kinetic editing that can be best described as trippy. Not an easy film to watch even though it's 25 minutes long but with patience and an appreciation for unique experimental film, I loved the sheer energy of it.
User ReviewTyler DSimply amazing. Watching the entire Dog Star Man film (all five parts) ranks among the most wonderful, and powerful film viewing experiences I've ever had.
User ReviewMike S-Possibly the most visually amazing thing i have ever seen. Totally hypnotizing. Watching the whole hour and a half of the entire Dog Star Man was really difficult for me to get through, and nearly made me sick to my stomach by the end because its so visually dizzy. However, I could watch the prelude a ton and not get tired of it because its so beautiful. Also, i read a really interesting paper explaining the meaning behind it and its really crazy when you know what hes saying with it. Also, its really awesome if you sync it up with squarepusher (even though its supposed to be watched without any sound) its even crazier. I'm making a playlist where it syncs up perfectly, but if you start "Go Spastic" at the second time it changes from red it syncs up really well. message me if you are interested in the playlist sync up thing and when i'm done with it i can send it to you or something. but yeah, definitly the best from Brakhage in my opinoin
User ReviewMatt KI have to agree with Scott on this one. My mind was blown completely.
User ReviewEric RNot for everyone but this is a beautiful film. the sheer energy of it is breathtaking..
User ReviewPrivate UWatching this I find to be a restorative experience, maybe because it tends to shut everything else out when you are paying attention.
User ReviewAndrew MThis is the most pretentious movie on my list
User ReviewAdam PSublimely beautiful imagery. An abstraction of the natural that posits its dreamlike perspective as the conduit between the cosmic and the mundane.
User ReviewMartin Tone of the most greatest visual experiences ever.
