| User ReviewJulian TAn American family's trip to Ireland becomes a nightmare when they get lost and discover that the surrounding countryside holds a horrific secret that forces them to fight for survival. Starting off with a lacklustre "seen it all before" opening and characters, I didn't really hold out much hope for this low budget shocker. But it ended up being a lot better than I thought it would be. The plot intricacies are pretty much secondary and it focuses more on scares and the feeling of impending doom all aided with an off the wall soundtrack. The 'monsters' are well handled and even though a lot are in the background, the ones that are seen properly are all quite disturbing. Because of the small cast, the gore is limited, but when it does happen, it happens with a bang. The finale is probably the film's weakest part, as it only partially explains what is going on, and then leaves the viewer with an ending that, though original to the film, is not something that you haven't seen in one form or another in a lot of other horror movies. As a whole 'Plague Town' isn't a bad entry in the 'people go on holiday and nasty stuff ensues' genre of horror movies, and if you are looking for something that is a bit eerie to watch and doesn't take a lot of thinking about, then this is a movie that you should check out. |

| User ReviewPetri PAnother very bizzare and brilliant film. This one much more horrific and disturbing to watch. The end result is not groudbreaking stuff, but all in all it is a pretty solid horror film for anyone with an open mind and who enjoys how some old school horror films worked, but at the same time feels fresh as well. |
| User ReviewChristina EA me questo "PLAGUE TOWN" è piaciuto, anche se certo non lo si può definire un prodotto particolarmente innovativo. Abbiamo un villaggio affetto da non si sa bene quale strana malattia, villaggio in cui ogni nuovo nato viene ucciso per evitare il diffondersi della piaga, almeno fino a quando una delle famiglie locali non decide di ribellarsi salvando il loro nascituro. Da qui ci si sposta ai tempi nostri, quando una famigliola in crisi (due figlie problematiche, una matrigna tra i piedi, il padre che cerca di far andare tutti d'amore e d'accordo) decide di fare una bella gita fra i boschi irlandesi, andando inevitabilmente a perdersi. Il film è piacevole, a tratti disturbante per il ridondare delle scene violente; il sangue decisamente non manca, Rosemary l'ho trovata adorabile anche se forse avrei approfondito di più la sua figura e il finale "amaro" fa decisamente al caso. "PLAGUE TOWN" è un film che scorre senza intoppi o cali di tensione, anche se di contro ha una trama piuttosto banale e vaga e i soliti villains deformi che torturano gli stranieri. |
| User ReviewAl MPlague Town is a bizarre, original, and brutally wicked little piece of British filmmaking. Featuring some genuinely creepy visuals and a distinctive style, Plague Town will delight fans of horror who want something different than the ordinary fare. Since Flixter provides no summary, I will attempt to do so. The film concerns a family on a trip back to their father's ancestry in England. The father is poised to remarry and the stepmother is along for the ride, one of the daughters has just recently been released from a mental hospital, the other daughter is vacuous bitch who constantly berates Dad's girlfriend and her sister, and vacuous daughter's British boyfriend is along for the ride. They get lost in the countryside and miss their bus back to civilization. The locals repeatedly try to warn them against being out past dark in the area, but the family, of course, misunderstands them. Soon, the family discovers that something is terribly wrong with the children of the area, and the children are ready to play. |
