Creative Loafing - 8/10 by Matt BrunsonA solid "B" flick, and its depiction of humanity post-apocalypse is startling in its harshness.
Cinema em Cena - 7/10 by Pablo VillaçaMais um fruto da paranóia coletiva gerada pela Guerra Fria, o filme conta com algumas boas idéias, mas é esquemático demais para aproveitá-las a contento.
User Review - 10/10 by Bill AA classic & cult favorite. The original post nuclear holocaust/apocalypse thriller. But no zombies.... You'll see allusions to this film in Red Dawn (1984), (e.g., the general store scene). NB cheap "production values"/special effects (e.g., the still frame image for the nuclear explosion).
User Review - 10/10 by Tom RIts a little unsettling how far ahead the father is thinking and what he's prepared to do to see his family's survival.
User Review - 10/10 by Arthur TThis movie was surprisingly very good. I really enjoyed this movie, and was very pleased with the recommendation from Netflix.
User Review - 10/10 by James HAs haunting and strange as this film is, the fact that it is both a time capsule from the paranoid past and insanely poignant now. 'The Man with the X-Ray Eye's' Ray Milland plays the role of the ultimate father figure attempting to uphold his ever-changing morality as the world falls apart around them. And by the world, I mean the countryside of California. I shudder to think what my Dad would do in this situation.
User Review - 10/10 by Timothy KI absolutely loved this film. I just recently watched it, and it gave me a bit of a freight. This is the first disaster cold war era film that I really enjoyed thru out. The acting was actually very well done, and the story line began strong and ended with a bang. The film kept me very interested. Go Rent It!
User Review - 8/10 by Kevin M. WRay Milland directs and stars in this straightforward contemplation on the hysteria the fall of civilization might bring. Its a lean and muscular piece, and better than one might be inclined to think considering the source (American International).
User Review - 8/10 by Logan MMaybe a little over-the-top in plot, but it's a thrilling and interesting survival story that isn't too large but not too small. The characters are good, the tension starts off nice, and there are many griping moments in the film. It may not look like a very realistic scenario now, but it's a fun look at nuclear holocaust paranoia.
User Review - 8/10 by Keenan SPanic In Year Zero isn't as polished as other films of its type, but it's still a very engaging and entertaining film about a nuclear holocaust. Like most films of its type, it is rather grim with its subject matter, especially what the family must do in order to survive and protect themselves from other survivors. For the most part, the film is well written, well acted, and very entertaining, but it does have some issues. Sometimes the acting can be cheesy and the film's music also seems horribly inappropriate at times considering the grim subject matter (The music during the implied rape scene sounds like wacky hijinks music pulled out a romantic comedy! You do not play that kind of music during a rape scene!). Despite minor issues, I still had a blast with this mostly-forgotten gem of a film. If you enjoy older, darker sci-fi films, this one will probably provide you with a lot of entertainment.
