Jam! MoviesLiz BraunFor this viewer, the attempted marriage of mythic qualities and gritty reality never quite works.
User ReviewJakub SShows that from ancient mythology to recent times in Brazil love hurts and one of the best soundtracks with nice scenes from Rio de Janeiro
User ReviewSofanit MTalk about unconventional romantic movie, set in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cinematography, the story line and the carnival music captured in movie all came together in such a unique way. The natural ways of the actors actually went well with the movie. Beautifully done!!
User ReviewJeuanita PThe cinematography and cast are great, the movie as such is really a little too arty for my taste. Still worth checking out for fans of Brazilian cinema.
User ReviewChristopher BImagine Romeo+Juliet but twenty times sillier and in Portuguese. That's basically this movie. There's a full two minute scene where SPOILER three characters mourn the death of Orfeu. One does a strange yelp/scream thing, one whistles, and one bashes his knees. FOR TWO MINUTES. The music's pretty good, though; I mean, it is Caetano Veloso.
User ReviewPrivate UThe soundtrack is a-mazing. It's like walking in a warm dream world... Hazy and beautiful, makes you nostalgic for a place you've never been. Some inappropriate scenes, though. But the wonder of this movie overshadows them. Can be a bit long at times, but the beautiful soundtrack makes up for it.
