Movie Reviews

Movie Chambers - 9/10 by Paul ChambersWriter-director Lee Jeong-beom certainly understands action. When he gets the story right, his films will get a wider audience in the U.S.
JoBlo's Movie Emporium - 8/10 by Chris BumbrayThe first hour is uneven, but some of the action scenes in the second half rival THE RAID 2.
The New York Times - 7/10 by Ben KenigsbergThis is the kind of sleek, precisely constructed genre work that’s gone missing from American summer movies.
Examiner.com - 6/10 by Chris SawinNo Tears for the Dead has some of the most jaw-dropping action any film could ask for, but the other factors of the film are so weak that they fail to make as much of an impact or any sort of impact at all other than severe irritation.
Los Angeles Times - 5/10 by Gary GoldsteinThe film's many violent action scenes are quite well, er, executed. But there's a far more emotional and profound story here to be told, one that becomes largely eclipsed by the mayhem.
Village Voice - 4/10 by Michael NordineThere are more tears than the title lets on, and even more blood, but it's a reason to truly be invested that's missing from No Tears for the Dead, which is rarely any better or worse than serviceable.
User Review - 10/10 by Maria MThe expectation was high for director Lee Jeong-beom and star Jang Dong-gun but the movie didn't do well in cinemas. But a movie's success shouldn't be measured by how much it earns. No Tears for the Dead is very effective when it comes to delivering what South Korean action is known for without forgetting about the emotional aspect without the need for romance.
User Review - 10/10 by Adam BHoly Smokes I just finished watching this movie and I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of Korean films and they are my favorite films off all time. I will say that I haven't seen a ton of them but I'm working on it. I loved the setting and also the story plot while unoriginal kept the plot moving forward. The actors and actresses all did an Amazing job especially the main protagonist "Gon" played by Jang Dong-gun which was the first Korean movie I have seen him in and what a tremendous actor. I will move forward with the action and Man O Man was it Insane. The one thing Korean films do better then any other films from around the world are to choreograph wonderful firefight scenes and jaw dropping Brutal fight scenes. I have seen a ton of movies in my 25 years of existence lol and being from America I will also say that these films put to shame what America comes out with in terms of action. Well anyways this is a must watch movie and you will not regret it I guarantee you that and you will want to watch more Korean films afterwards but understand that if you can't or are to lazy to read subtitles you might not enjoy it as much but the action scenes might just alleviate that feeling.
User Review - 10/10 by Michael QGreat movie! haven't seen an emotional action packed movie like this in awhile! recommend for anyone into action movies like man of Tia chi or raid redemption.
User Review - 10/10 by James CWhile not entirely an original plot (think along the lines of The Replacement Killers) the story involves a hitman named Gon who while doing a job accidentally kills a young child by mistake. He is then told the job was incomplete and is then given the task of going after a woman who also happens to be the child's mother. Clearly dissatisfied with being a hitman he reluctantly flies to Korea for the job but then ends up trying to protect the woman from other assassins one of which is a good friend of his. The action sequences are great, the gore is just right, and the ending is not what you would necessarily expect. Very well done as the only drawback is it tends to shift from English language to Korean so it is something you have to pay attention to fully. Great great movie though and highly recommended. 10/10
