In fact, their movies cost little to make and scored big at the box office. For the first time, Italian song, which until that moment had been entirely directed at families, even in movies, began to address a decidedly younger audience. The same thing happened with the so-called "shouters": Adriano Celentano, Mina, Tony Dallara. In the mid-1960s, young people's consumption of culture was such a significant phenomenon that it anticipated the protests which would explode in 1968. This documentary uses the voice of the protagonists of the time and the vast archives of the Istituto Luce to recount the complexity of the phenomenon. During that era, simple, unpretentious films became the mirror of a generation and the litmus test of a country undergoing radical change. As Pasolini said, Italy was no longer the same after the economic boom. And those movies helped change it.
