At the end of the Ice Age, The Machine came from outer space to change men into mutants. However, a hero defeated the device and a great seal was laid over The Machine. In 2707, the depleted world is ruled by four Corporations: Mishima, Bauhaus, Capitol, and Imperial that are in a constant state of war. During a battle between Capitol and Bauhaus, the great seal is broken and The Machine works again transforming soldiers and civilians into hordes of mutants. A small part of the population escapes to Mars, leaving millions of people behind. The man of faith and leader of an ancient brotherhood, Brother Samuel, is a believer in God and the Chronicles, a Bible about the mutants from ancient times. With the city besieged by the mutants, he visits the Corporations' leader Constantine, asking for an aircraft and twenty men for a suicide mission to destroy The Machine, planting a bomb and a detonator following the knowledge of the Chronicles. He recruits the tough Major 'Mitch' Hunter; the Bauhaus Lieutenant Maximillian von Steiner; the keeper of the Chronicles Severian that is under a vow of silence; the gorgeous and lethal Corporal Valerie Duval; Corporal Juba Kim Wu; Captain John McGuire; and Corporal Jesus 'El Jesus' de Barrera. Together they become the last hope of Earth against the evil mutants.

BrianOrndorf.comBrian OrndorfThe feature is better executed in a shoot-first-ask-questions-later style that encourages silence and brutality. Once the material is asked to explain itself, the entertainment value of the film curdles immediately.
Cinema CrazedFelix Vasquez Jr.Definitely isn't setting any precedence, but it's serviceable and fun.
TeletextVictor OlliverThere's no doubting the frenetic energy of Simon Hunter's steampunk thriller with its deft mixing of CGI and live action. The mutants are artforms of grotesqueness and truly terrifying.
FEARnetScott WeinbergOh, lighten up! It's a pulpy combo of Starship Troopers, The Dirty Dozen and Sky Captain. Perfect for a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Syfy WireTodd Gilchrist...makes one long for the comparatively straightforward incompetence of filmmakers like Uwe Boll.
Financial TimesNigel AndrewsWhen the ridiculous and the sublime come within kissing distance like this, you know that, script or no script, Hollywood has found a way to have a wonderful time.
Film4Jamie RussellRubbish CGI, rubbish acting, rubbish storytelling. Throw in a few mutants and a better-than-it-deserves cast and you get this sci-fi timewaster.
Shadows on the WallRich ClineA cheesy attempt to throw everything at the screen, this futuristic thriller would no doubt work much better as a videogame
CinefantastiqueSteve BiodrowskiThe computer-generated imagery falls short when it comes to supplying the gore for the fight scenes: the bright splashes of red look almost literally Photoshopped onto the settings.
ViewLondonMatthew TurnerMutant Chronicles has an intriguing premise, good performances and some decent effects, but it's let down by some terrible pacing and an extremely dull script.
