Movie Reviews

Tolucan Times - 10/10 by Tony MedleyWith overwhelmingly beautiful cinematography on location, this is as good as any thriller and also a sweet love story...the best of film, one that entertains and educates.
Seattle Post-Intelligencer - 9/10 by William ArnoldThe casting also works. As the Khan, Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano ("Zatoichi") is all effortless charisma, and Chinese actor Honglei Sun (as his best friend-turned-enemy) and Mongolian actress Khulan Chuluun (as his faithful wife, Borte) are just as effective.
Monsters and Critics - 9/10 by Ron WilkinsonA thrilling and painstakingly researched story combined with the best costumes imaginable and superb performances makes this a biopic to see.
New York Times - 9/10 by A.O. ScottMongol -- or, as I prefer to think of it, "Genghis Khan: The Early Years" -- is a big, ponderous epic, its beautifully composed landscape shots punctuated by thundering hooves and bloody, slow-motion battle sequences.
ColeSmithey.com - 9/10 by Cole SmitheyFor anyone even slightly interested in Mongolian history or in the life of the man who would conquer a fifth of the Earth's landmass, "Mongol" is a movie that demands repeated screenings.
KPBS.org - 9/10 by Beth AccomandoMongol is an impressive epic that also captures intimate moments in the early life of the Mongolian leader.
Oregonian - 9/10 by M.E. RussellBodrov has simply created an overwhelmingly awesome Khan who could believably conquer the overwhelmingly awesome landscape over the course of two more films.
Aisle Seat - 9/10 by Mike McGranaghanVisually stunning, historically interesting, and very entertaining.
Tulsa World - 9/10 by James VanceFor its two-hour running time, Mongol makes you believe that you're in the company of the future Khan and his companions as they struggle to endure the callousness of the times and the savage environment.
rec.arts.movies.reviews - 9/10 by Mark R. LeeperA saga of blood feuds, betrayals, vendettas, and a lot of fighting The film is entertaining but more macho than intelligent.
