Circa 1992, Mallukot-based Harinder falls head-over-heels in love with Aayat, who has come to live there with her Bua, Fatimah, from Kashmir. Hoping to woo and marry her despite receiving romantic overtures from village belle Lajjo, he instead faces heartbreak following the attack on Babri Masjid by right-wing Hindu extremists. Seeking safety in Bombay, Aayat re-locates there with her father and Bua. The couple are then fated to meet in 1999 in Scotland, where Harinder is now an Indian Air Force Pilot and Aayat is a ballet dancer. They rekindle their romance and set a wedding date. Unfortunately, the Kargil war compels Harinder to return home, and Aayat doesn't hear from him and doesn't know that he has been gravely injured and his left arm is paralyzed. After being discharged, he still hopes to connect with her, but when he returns to Scotland he is told that they have relocated to the United States. Following the events of 9/11, he gets a lead that she might be in Switzerland. He travels there and locates her rather dramatically, but nothing could have prepared him for the shock of finding her resting on the shoulder of an unknown male with a child on her lap.

User ReviewDebasree GDefinitely one of my favorite movies. Shahid Kapoor was SUPERB as Squadron Leader Harinder Singh. It was great watching him mature from a happy go lucky adolescent boy to a strong squadron leader in the Indian Air Force. Pankaj Kapoor's directoral debut was great. I can't wait to see what else he has going on in the future.
User ReviewSraya RI love this movie! The actors, the atmosphere, the action; I loved all of it!
User ReviewLalita-Gopi Pfirst half is filled with lots of entertainment and comedy.. 2nd half, it gets into typical bollywood love story.. separation, pain, search, misunderstanding, and a happy ending in the last 5 mins of the movie.. nothing fancy or apart from the ordinary... but still cute and enjoyable.. overall a good movie and worth watching!
User ReviewJim Bob HKapoor and Kapoor have a sweet chemistry that make this an enjoyable film to watch. Wholly unbelievable CGI fighter scenes and an out-of-sync post-9/11 date cause a bit of disruption in the story we're being told, but the audience wants the protagonists to get together. With a nod to DDLJ and Madhuri Dixit Nene (many-time co-star with Sonam's father, Anil), this is standard Bollywood fare with a little side trip to UK thrown in for scenic interest. The music is catchy, and Shahid gets to show off his dancefloor prowess in a Punjabi wedding celebration, a la Jab We Met. All-around an enjoyable film, with a lovable cast and soundtrack.
User ReviewAman APhotographic, serene, heart wrenching and heart warming, from love at first sight till love over boundaries of the unknown, this is a quintessential love story across ages, countries and mediums. The scenery, cinematography, close ups and definitely the pretty faces, are extremely beautiful. It is slow. By slow, I mean long shots and painstaking waits, yet the director tried its best to reach the point where the audience is feeling the same anxiousness, loss of hope and grim future that the actors experience. Sadly, like all Bollywood movies, once scene in the end ends up playing to the galleries and spoiling a well constructed script. Ah well, that's the way it is.
