"Made In Romania" is the story of a producer who is given the chance to realize his dream project; to film an adaptation of an obscure, beautifully written Victorian novel, "The Tides of Reason". Disillusioned after years of making low budget genre films, the producer readily accepts the demands of his less than legitimate financiers. Namely, the production be filmed entirely in Romania to take advantage of a complicated and slightly suspicious tax deal. Shot in documentary style, this behind-the-scenes comedy deftly and inexorably exposes the painful reality of runaway film production. Way off the radar in deepest, darkest, rural Romania the hopelessly disconnected production veers swiftly off the tracks as bizarre personalities, cultural, economic and language issues quickly combine to send the production spiraling into hysteria.

User Review - 10/10 by mike hBest fucking movie on the planet right now for me. I love this motherfucking movie, I love films about the process and this is a newest greatest one around right now. Its fucking awesome, everyone in this, is so fucking amazing. I am glad to see Hurley and Tilly back in action in something of a masterpiece in this genre. I wish they both made more films. Tilly should be doing Russ Meyer remakes, she is such a great badass actor, and I love watching her, and should do the Faster Pussycat kill Kill remake, shes perfect for one of the leads. I am going to watch this movie 1000 times, its never going to get old. This is film is like actually being on set, location, and working on the film. This is one of the best films for anyone to see, who has ever wanted to know whats its like to be on a film, but has never had a chance too. Love everyone in this film and everyone who made it, thank you for a wonderful film, and for adding more sunshine into my world and everyone else who gets too see the magic you have been on film.
User Review - 6/10 by Anya SThis little indie mockumentary is apparently so indie that I had to suggest adding it to Flixster! Surprising since it stars Jennifer Tilly and has Elizabeth Hurley in a cameo. A film producer who dreams of bringing a Victorian period drama to life finds himself constantly compromising just to prevent the project's collapse under the burden of a new daily catastrophe. Such obstacles include a belligerent foul-mouthed director, the local mafia, a flock of intrusive noisy pigeons, and budget constraints that require they attempt to recreate 19th century England in rural Romania with Romanian extras who can't speak a word of English! Quite funny throughout, shedding some light as well as flashing a knowingly wry smile upon the world of low-budget filmmaking. Not quite as good as the simailrly-themed and equally indie/unknown ...And God Spoke but still a pleasant surprise.
User Review - 4/10 by Gimly MThe "movie about making a movie that doesn't actually exist" premise is a perfectly fine one, but this particular example perhaps didn't have the content to stretch to its ninety minute runtime. Jennifer Tilly and Jason Flemyng as the leads of the fake movie are fine, but Joe Shaw as the lead of the actual movie is on occasion embarrassing.
