StarburstJulian WhitePreceding From Dusk Till Dawn by two years, Lurking Fear (1994) performs a similar trick... only it does it on a budget and, you won't be surprised to hear, not nearly as well.
Cinema CrazedFelix Vasquez Jr.It's a simplistic and creepy little Gothic horror thriller...
User ReviewDon SLoved this movie when I saw it years ago, a great b-movie romp. Watch it for drunken Jeffrey Combs as a triple feature with The Re-animator and From Beyond.
User ReviewTim HOne of the better Lovecraft flicks. The gangster subplot seems like an odd addition to the cannibal albino family storyline and more often than not it is what brings the film down. still, there's some great stuff in here.
User ReviewJason DLurking Fear is one of the better old school Full Moon picture out there, (though time has not been good to it at all) about a group of various characters stuck in large church next to a cursed cemetery where they are being hunted and killed by an undead family Subhumanoid underground dwellers, so USUDs instead of CHUDs. Not too bad of a film, but I think it's really helped out by the unique cast, which is comprised of Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser 1, 2 & 6), or Ashley Lauren as she is mistakenly referred to in the credits. The almighty Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator trilogy), and Vincent Shiavelli (Ghost) both make fun appearances in the film as well. Like I said, not a bad movie at all, especially for it being a Full Moon production.
User ReviewMatthew CFull Moon, the 90s' kings of straight to video, continued the long standing tradition of butchering H.P. Lovecraft's work with this low budget cheese fest. Hands down the best part of the film is cigarette smoking, hard drinking, blood stained Jeffery Combs as Dr. Haggis. The rest of the cast, including horror regular Ashley Lawrence and Greg Evigan wannabe Blake Adams, are pretty useless filler. On top of the bad acting and mindless plot, the video quality on this DVD is actually worse than the original VHS, if that's possible. My hat's off to Full Moon for once again going that extra mile to make sure their films have that something special.
User ReviewTodd GThis was a fairly well done film from Full Moon. Jeffrey Combs is always good and creepy. A group of people are holed up at a church while being attacked by a creature underground. Good special effects and a decent story help it go by quickly.
User ReviewThe NIt reminded me a lot of "Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight" (1995). It is not a bad one even when I do not use to like Lovecraft based movies.
User ReviewPhilip LI can't think of a single reason why I like this movie. But, I do.
User ReviewAaron BA quite entertaining, but very loose H.P. Lovecraft adaptation--Not vintage Lovecraft, but a good show!!
