As David Grant passes neighbor Jean Newton on the street in Greenwich Village, he impulsively wishes her good luck. Although she doesn't know him, she intuitively asks him to become her partner in an Irish Sweepstakes ticket. David agrees on the condition that she go on a world tour with him if they win the $150,000 prize as an "experiment." She reluctantly agrees over the initial objections of her oafish fiancé Fred, who agrees to hold the ticket. When it turns out that they have drawn a horse in the race, Fred urges them to sell the ticket for the $12,000 asking price, but they turn him down. Although their horse loses, Jean is furious to learn that Fred had sold her half of the ticket. Even though David doesn't know about it, she feels obligated to share the $6000 with him. After he buys her a car with her half, she agrees to a scaled-down version of their tour to Niagara Falls, where they register as brother and sister. What Jean doesn't know is that David is actually a famous painter living under an assumed name after serving three years in prison.

User ReviewE GGreat Cast that must works with a goofy script. I can understand why it was a hit back in 1940. The plot is progressive and optimistic, two characteristics very lacking in a modern audience. It's just a fun little movie that showcases the talents of every cast member.
User ReviewJohn DA tad slow to begin with and in the middle. But other wise another movie that just made me smile ^_^ The Ending was just fab!
User ReviewMatt HCute if improbable comedy with Ronald Colman and Ginger working well together.
User ReviewPaul DPleasant comedy with some excellently timed scenes for the laughs. Ronald Colman looks too old to be a leading man opposite Ginger Rogers, but the chemistry between them is still good.
User ReviewMike NSorry, Ginger, not one of your better efforts.
User ReviewMatthew Nrather hokey situation to wrap its self into when all it could have been was a romance between the main cast the way the film first starts. Things and character are dropped in the audience lap for no reason and the mystery indentity surprise was just a waste of writing. The only highlight of the film is the ever delightful Harry Devenport as the judge.
