Castelar, "El Tío del Gabán" and "El Pelirrojo" are three petty criminals who are engaged in organized pickpockets on the Madrid Trail. One day they meet at the wish of their former partner Daniel "El Melancólico", who plans to commit a robbery in a jewelry store. The attempt turns out to be a resounding failure. The problems soon appear again: The owner Doña Andrea died poisoned by Germana, her sister-in-law, and her husband Don Felipe, the owner, is being poisoned little by little, in the infusions of tea, in the same way that Andrea was . Also, as if that were not enough, Daniel falls in love with Herminia, the owner's goddaughter.
