Harry Shelby receives his first pair of long pants. He immediately falls in love with a cocaine-smuggling flapper named Bebe. When Bebe is imprisoned, Harry decides to rescue her. There's something truly disturbing and darkly surreal to watch an idiotic man-child - who lives (presumably imprisoned) in the attic of his over-protective parents - trying, in vain, to murder his fiance because of his promise to marry a drug-dealer named Bebe. The film is quite funny, though, and features an astonishing opening scene. It's a shame Langdon fired the writer-director Frank Capra from his team after the film was finished. |
