Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe macho modern-day cowboy character played by Norris should appeal to men who just love him shirtless in a shoot-out.
Hollywood ReporterDuane ByrgeWriter B.J. Nelson has skillfully combined plot elements and situations which draw from the best of Westerns and anti-Establishment cop films.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertThis is an action movie. It makes no apology for that. But it's high-style action.
The Associated PressBob ThomasThe plot, set in and around El Paso, is unimportant and nonstop, like an old-fashioned, Saturday afternoon serial, which isn't at all bad. Steve Carver, the director, understands that in such films action is content.
7M PicturesKevin Carran enjoyable ride for the modern western that it is
Miami HeraldBill CosfordAs senseless violence goes, this is very senseless and very violent. Norris is a Texas Ranger, Carradine an oily Senator smuggling weapons to 'Central American terrorists', but the storyline has more non sequiturs than bodies, which is saying something.
User ReviewAndré ØChuck Norris's finest hour (& 45 minutes).

User ReviewTony TNorris as a texas ranger versus Carradine as an asshole who knows karate, in an epic showdown. This movie has it all... a young Commander Chakotay as an unwanted partner, explosions, military convey heist, explosions, best friend killed, explosions, kidnapped daughter, revenge and explosions. Alcoholism never looked cooler.
User ReviewJason DLone Wolf McQuade may just be THE best Chuck Norris film I have ever seen, and this is coming from a guy who always thought The Hitman was Norris' best film!! Lone Wolf McQuade is about the aptly named Texas Ranger (gee, I wonder if this role got him started in his pro-Texas Ranger, pro-Bush, pro-Republican ways) who fights the bad guys and seedy Mexicans in the deserts of El Paso. After Norris dispenses sweet justice to about 30 bad guys, he starts investigating how they came to have such dangerous machine guns, which leads him to super-cool bad guy David Carradine (whose a real badass in this film along with Norris) who excels in dealing heavy firepower and automatic weapons (which he steals from the army. Though Chuck is doing his part to try and take down these guys, he's only slightly maddened when they hurt his daughter (Dana Kimmell, the lucky survivor of the third Friday the 13th), and then slightly maddened a little more when they kill his best friend (L.Q. Jones), and then he really gets pissed off when they kill his dog! It all comes down to martial arts battle deep within the heart of Mexico, the epitome of martial arts territory, between two whiter than white men!!!! Yes, some of the material is a bit cheesy, but this plays like a VERY entertaining modern western/action/karate hybrid picture. The score is pretty darn good too. Overall, very entertaining film. This makes me want to watch more Chuck Norris films now.
