Movie Reviews

Village Voice - 7/10 by Daphne HowlandFull of such bon mots, the documentary is the epitome of positive thinking, perhaps the closest thing America has to a state religion. Still, like social worker Wendy Lustbader’s book What’s Worth Knowing, which took a similar tack years ago, it’s an opportunity to connect with souls who’ve been around more than a few blocks.
The Hollywood Reporter - 7/10 by Frank ScheckThe whole point of Lives Well Lived is to showcase inspiring individuals, and in that regard it succeeds handsomely. Director Bergman effectively alleviates the visual tedium of a series of talking heads by including plenty of home movies, vintage photographs and archival footage of historical events that figure in the commentary.
Los Angeles Times - 7/10 by Robert AbeleLives Well Lived isn't exactly artful moviemaking, but it's a heartfelt reminder that for many, age is just a number.
Washington Post - 6/10 by Mark JenkinsAs a form of life-coaching, this documentary is, in fact, kind of a dud.
