Newark Star-LedgerStephen WhittyA small sweet film, the sort of unexpected pleasure movie fans often find at a small film festival or on some second-tier cable channel.
NOW TorontoRadheyan SimonpillaiFlanagan and appealing newcomer Kelly Thornton, as Nan's teenage granddaughter, deliver the only tolerable performances, probably because they don't say much, and like us, just observe the silliness on display.
Laramie Movie ScopeRobert RotenDespite the occasional emotional overtones, this is really a very light and enjoyable comedy.
Movie ChambersPaul ChambersYes, if it wasn't for the salty language, this might just be a TV movie. But, I liked it.
CompuserveHarvey S. KartenStrong performances, but a run-of-the-mill sitcom.
Toronto StarLinda BarnardLife's a Breeze spins a sitcom plot into passable yet predictable entertainment.
User ReviewSharon BFunny and heartwarming film about an Irish family and the search for an old mattress containing a fortune.
User ReviewMatt MLance Daly burrows a little from the charm of the classic working class Ealing Studio comedies and from his own interest in urban feel good tales. The result is satisfactory, also thanks to the film's pleasant and very Irish sense of humour as well as a delightful performance by the young Kelly Thornton who holds up well opposite two Irish big names like Fionnula Flanagan and Pat Shortt and provides a lot of the film's main charm and good nature.
User ReviewJim SGrandmother and granddaughter watch the madness of Dublin in poor economic times swirl around them and at the end they find some quiet joy. It made me smile.
User ReviewSean PPretty standard searching for lost object comedy. I will say I'd pretty much kill anyone who came into my house and threw everything away. Boxing it up is one thing but you don't trash anyone else's stuff without their permission. Shortt sounds exactly like Colm Meaney.
