Separated from her incarcerated husband Bill (Hinds), Trish (Janney) is about to be married again. Bill is a pedophile, so Trish couldn't be more excited to have Harvey (Lerner), a "normal" father figure for her two sons. But when Bill is released from prison and the boys finally meet their future stepdad, the family is forced to decide whether to forgive or to forget. Trish's sister, the virginal, angelic Joy (Henderson), is also haunted by ghosts of lovers past. On leave from her degenerate husband, Allen (Williams), and her job at a New Jersey correctional facility, Joy unwittingly leaves behind a trail of shame and exposed secrets wherever she goes. In one of the film's most stylized sequences, the image of Joy walking the dark streets of Miami in her nightgown maintains her innocence against a backdrop of self-affliction and desire.

VarietyLeonard KladyIt's a film of small delights rather than a home run, and an encouraging first foray for Dunsky.
New York TimesStephen HoldenUnable to decide where to go or what tone to adopt, it ends up treading water.
User ReviewJennifer MGood movie, good plot, excellent cast. As sad as this may sound, as funny as the movie can be, it is also serious. Someone who installs a security system of some sort may actually break into your house or car.
User ReviewColey GNew Feature here---Fridays Flick Pick---picking movies that many people dont know about that I found surprisingly good,........THE ALARMIST........Dont read the summary of this movie is gives away 2 huge plot points. David Arquette, Stanley Tucci and Kate Capshaw star in this quirky comedy/thriller. Look for a very very young Ryan Rennolds in probably hes weirdest role to date.......4 out of 5 stars.
User ReviewWes MDavid Arquette is so cute! And I like him so much!
User ReviewMichael WApprentice security alarm salesman discovers his boss is drumming up business by breaking into homes. Not what I expected with plenty of dark humour. Stanley Tucci is good as the less-than-ethical boss.
User Reviewbrendan nstrange little film that works thanks to its oddball characters. becomes a little too much towards the end but up and till then it works quite well. never becomes the film it desires to be but it is a black comedy that works and with stanley tucci in form it is quite funny
User ReviewGreg FThis was a very odd little-known movie with some surprising and some funny scenes, but it didn't add up to much and can't really be recommended. If you're a big David Arquette fan, you may want to check it out.
User Reviewdavid sChildish and obvious; stuttering continuity and mediocre all round. Maybe titivated the teenage fantacists; this doesn't get under the skin of the characters. But the actors didn't stand a chance.
