Monthly Film BulletinMFB CriticsAs a whole, although the script contains some genuinely amusing ideas, neither script writers nor director have achieved the pace, invention and style of high comedy.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzIt should have been a riot, but the zany Brit comedy is fumbled by the heavy-handed direction.
User ReviewJane KMy fave of all Alastair Sim movies! The storyline is hilarious! A definite must see!
User ReviewNigel KYes it's dated, but with that comes charm. A tour de force of great British actors with Alistair Sim leading the way.
User ReviewJames ODespite an excellent cast there's no real outstanding performances here, although it's a solid enough mid 20th century British comedy with Audrey Hepburn in one of her first screen roles, although she's only on screen for about a minute.
User ReviewOrlok W(58%) A somewhat forgotten little gem of a British comedy. The premise is in the same family as "Brewster's millions" and "The million pound note", with a good cast and a good heart. Fans of this era of comedy flicks should without doubt check this out.
User ReviewHenrik SA quirky and charming British comedy that plays out like four stories woven into one (which pretty much hits the nail on the head). Unfortunately, woven is a bit of an overstatement because the film - despite the potential - does not screwball the stories into each other as much as it could have done. WIth a better scripwriter and finesse, this could have been a classic. This way, it feels like a below-par sitcom with easy laughts and no substance.
