Three weeks before general elections, the leader of one of the country's largest parties, the Center Party, is involved in a severe car accident. The political scene is thrown into disarray. At the same time, young, ambitious journalist, Ulrik Torp, is given the opportunity of a life time and made Dagbladet's correspondent in Parliament. Before long, Ulrik gets caught up in a ruthless struggle for power headed by the party's two successors to the leadership, chairman Erik Dreier and spokesman Lone Kjeldsen. Ulrik barely geets to dip his toes in the water, before all hell breaks loose. Speculation in the press and calculated lies fuel the controversy at great personal cost to many of the people involved. Ulrik slowly uncovers a cynical plot that involves the country's incumbent Prime Minister. He becomes obsessed with learning the truth. But no one will listen to him, be it politicians or colleagues in the press corps, and as election day draws near, Ulrik has to face the power elite on his own.

Movie Reviews

ViewLondon - 8/10 by Matthew TurnerKing's Game is adapted from a novel by political insider Niels Krause-Kjoer and as such, the script has an air of seasoned authenticity about it.
european-films.net - 6/10 by Boyd van HoeijOne would never guess that it was made by a rookie director. A ride of nail-biting suspense and unsuspected insight.
User Review - 10/10 by Anna OThis is the best film I have seen in recent years. Both from a filmmaking point of view and from the thematic. Its theme is more relevant than ever, and you'll just enjoy all the way throguh. This is seriously a film that should make a difference both in the box office and in the people that watches it. It makes you want to change the world.
User Review - 10/10 by Christian Hthis will have you glued to your seat. a must see.
User Review - 10/10 by David WKing's Game takes its time to ensure it delivers one message to you; there are hunters, and there are prey. For the rest of the hunt you'll be watching both trying to figure out which they are. If you can tell then you're doing well! With a level of acting seamless enough to make you forget it's acting, a score that's replaced its strings section with tension & tease and cinematography that understands how to revel in the subtleties of a character, it stands out as a film with direction, confidence and merit earned on its own terms. If you're bored by good-guy / bad-guy political showpieces eager to explore burning moral dilemmas (yuk!) then this is the antidote you've been looking for. I almost don't want to recommend it, because then I might run into someone and say "hey have you seen Kongekabale? It's ab--- oh you've seen it?... Damn."
User Review - 10/10 by andrew pas independent films go King's Game is one of the best i have seen over the last year. not sure when it comes out in the USA but it hits the UK cinema screens in September. a gripping political thriller, very much has a feel like All the President's Men. quite simply a rivetting tale, as you watch the cat and mouse games between the journalists and politicians. very much a film for the state of the world today. scary !
User Review - 8/10 by Adriana DIntelligent political thriller...Very good start for the director Nikolaj Arcel.
User Review - 8/10 by The LA bit contrived as these plot lines tend to be. Lars Mikkelsen is wasted given his minimal screen time-he's rather good at playing the part of a slimy POS. Overall, a very good effort worth watching.
User Review - 8/10 by Freja FThough "a movie about politics.. well.. I will try" - But it WAS very thrilling! Great movie!
User Review - 8/10 by a zDenmark's West Wing! Excellent political/media conspiracy thriller. Deserves to be much better known than it is. A must for political junkies.
