Full Plot Details

Circa 1930 in Chittagong, male teenagers are asked by British soldiers to play football elsewhere. Since there is no other ground, they decide to approach widower school-master Surjya Sen, and join his band of freedom fighters. Since Gandhi had announced a ban of violence for one year, Surjya patiently waits, then raises Rs.18000/-, with this amount he procures guns, four vehicles and 25 bicycles, and inducts two women, Pritilata, and Kalpana Dutta in his team. Their plan is to surprise the British by disabling telecommunications and transportation, liberating jailed comrades, taking guns and ammunition from the armory, and holding Britishers hostage at the European Club. Before they could carry out their plan, both women are instructed by their respective families to re-locate to Calcutta. Surjya, nevertheless decides to simultaneously carry out the attacks but his group is unable to hold any hostages due to the holiday of Good Friday, and the raid on the armory gets them rifles but no ammunition. They do succeed in cutting off communications and transportation, however, the British do recover and devise plans to capture the group. With no food nor shelter, little or no ammunition, how long will Surjya and his group elude the determined British?

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is a true story of these forgotten heroes and the narrative takes us through every step of the action from the initial trepidation, to the thrill of the attack, to the underground movement, daring escapes and tragic captures, and most importantly, their undying legacy. This is definitely THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR which till now was My Name Is Khan, i mean seriously one of the best movie ever. Mr Ashutosh Gowariker once again did an extraordinary job after Brilliant Masterpieces like Lagaan and Jodha Akbar. this is a true story of the Chittagong Revolution that happened in 1930, which till now i was totally unaware of, thanks to Mr Gowariker he is just brilliant. story of this movie is brilliant, its written extremely well. the true story from the history is being adapted very well. really happy that finally seen a wonderful movie. Screenplay is superb really good. Dialogs are written very good very patriotic. This movie seriously rise patriotism in you, it really effects you so deeply. Performances wise its excellent, Abhishek Bachchan is good if not great in the movie, decent performance by him, he looks good though in this role. Deepika padukone is good, she is improving really well she performs very well and do full justice to every character she plays. other supporting actors like Sikander Kher and other guys in the team they were pretty good. and yes the teen agers were really good too. t's a film of immense significance which evokes a colossal patriotic fervor. music of this movie is really soothing and sweet songs, i love the music of this movie. this movie will not appeal to those who just like to watch those masala type or comedy or romantic bollywood movies, its different, a true heroic movie that will unfortunately not set the Box Office record like those silly movies do but will definitely have its significance on those who see it. its a movie made once in a long time. Two thumbs way up. editing of this movie is really good, not boring at all. once it kicks off never stops so it will not be an annoying or boring history movie but trust me its an entertaining movie. the way everything have been put up its entertaining as well as pretty serious at the same time. Cinematography is very good, art direction is good too the 30's time period is shown good. so are the costumes and everything else. a near perfect masterpiece made in masterclass way, its a brilliant epic thought provoking and patriotic movie. just outstanding, superb movie. excellent movie. Must watch.

User Review - 8/10 by Pranav KI've liked all Ashutosh Gowariker's films, and this is no exception. A very thoroughly-researched and well-made film. It was a nice reminder to see how India was once so united to overthrow the British in this historical. Yes, it is disturbing to see that so many young teenagers were recruited for this violent mission, and I don't exactly support that aspect of the Chittagong Uprising. However, it is important to note that this is a true story, so the facts cannot be changed. The film has been presented very tastefully.
