After he completes his sentence, he vows to his mother to go straight but his criminal record renders futile all his efforts to secure a job. Then one day he wins some money in a wrestling match. He decides to buy some necessities for his family, which include a school-bag. Ajit returns the bag to the owner Premchand and a gratified Premchand employs him. Ajit falls for Premchand's daughter Rekha and their marriage is fixed. Then one day Ajit's doctor gives him shattering news: he has leukaemia and won't survive for long. Shattered, Ajit breaks off his engagement with Rekha. When Premchand comes to know the truth, he asks Ajit to commit a robbery for him so that Ajit's family's future will be secured by Ajit's share of the money. However, after the robbery victim turns up dead, Ajit is framed for it and sentenced to death.
