Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThis is a perfect film for those who don't respect film.
Creative LoafingMatt BrunsonWhile the alternate title King Cobra is more direct, Jaws of Satan is more honest, since this often plays like a mentally challenged version of the Steven Spielberg smash.
eFilmCritic.comScott WeinbergThis one comes close to Spielberg's Jaws...alphabetically, that is.
User ReviewOmar KWell that was quite the different take on the killer animal genre. I enjoyed it.
User ReviewWes SI expected it to be trash, but it was really just a boring Jaws knockoff. Only, replace Quint with a priest, Brody with a female local doctor, and Hooper with a snake expert who is called in after mysterious snake bites. It still has a few interesting moments, like a snake getting shot in the face with a gun and a memorable scene of a very young Christina Applegate freaking out after a snake bite. That's probably the only big selling point: To see Christina Applegate pre-Married With Children. Other than that, it's skippable.
User ReviewViktor NCorny, cheesy and well.. some laughs though not that they were intended.. and the laws of moviemaking were not obayed.. entertaining at least
User ReviewJustin BIf you crossed "End of Days" with "Snakes on a Plane" and filmed it in the 1970s, you'd get "Jaws of Satan." Fritz Weaver plays a small-town priest who's ancestors killed off a druid cult. Those druids cursed his family and the devil, in the form of a king cobra, returns to the small town off of a circus train to exact his revenge. That revenge comes by way of the demonic snake controlling all of the other local snakes, who then attack the small parish community members. And all this is happening just as a new local dog racing track is about to open! As you may have surmised, this film is ridiculous. It's part nature-gone-wild and part Satanic-panic, but overall, it's just a terrible film, although the film is just bad enough that it can be enjoyed on an ironic so-bad-it's-good level. Gretchen Corbett of "The Rockford Files" and Norman Lloyd were the only actors I recognized. I didn't realize it until I looked at IMDB, but his film also featured a 7-year-old Christina Applegate in her film debut. Only watch this film if you're a die hard Applegate fan or if you're in the mood for cheesy Satanic snake attacks.
