Several years after Brody electrocuted the shark at Cable Junction, his sons, Mike and Sean, are now working in different roles at Sea World Orlando. Mike is working as a park engineer and considering marriage to his girlfriend, killer whale biologist Kathryn Morgan. Sean is also involved with 1 of the park's water skiers, Kelly Ann Bukowski. Sea World is about to open a massive 'Undersea Kingdom' which will bring visitors closer to marine life than ever before. The park is accessible from the ocean by a series of gates, one of which malfunctions. A young Great White Shark swims through the gate, and when a maintenance diver heads down to fix the gate he does not return. The young Great White is captured and placed in a tank but soon dies despite Kathryn's best efforts to save it. More alarming though, is the young shark's massive, 35 foot mother which has followed the baby shark into the lagoon and killed the maintenance diver, whose body is recovered. It isn't long before the huge shark begins wreaking havoc, and Mike and Kathryn, along with Sea World manager Calvin Bouchard and photographer Phillip Fitzroyce, must find a way to eliminate the shark before they - or the guests - become the shark's next meal.

Movie Reviews

Mania.com - 8/10 by Rob VauxA living testament to how low a studio will stoop to generate a few bucks.
Video-Reviewmaster.com - 5/10 by Steve CrumEnough is too much...even in 3-D. The franchise sinks.
Miami Herald - 5/10 by Bill CosfordAlthough shot well and boasting some effective 3-D work, this is a woefully inadequate effort, and the series began to slip into inadvertent self-parody.
The New York Times - 5/10 by Janet MaslinIt's harmless but unsurprising...Without Steven Spielberg's timing or John Williams's music, the shark's periodic visits become feeding scenes rather than ferocious attacks. It's like watching someone make regular raids on a refrigerator in search of midnight snacks.
BBC.com - 4/10 by Almar HaflidasonThe shark gets more time on screen than before only it's not a wise decision, as it remarkably looks cheaper than in the last film.
Common Sense Media - 4/10 by Brian CostelloCheesy '80s sequel has lots of violence, peril.
Eye for Film - 4/10 by Jennie KermodeJaws 3-D ultimately suffers from the same problem as many cute animal films aimed at kids. It spends far too much of its time on boring humans and their boring relationships.
Antagony & Ecstasy - 4/10 by Tim BraytonSo hokey and so incredibly incompetent in execution that it feels less wicked in its ignorance and more like a comic relief hillbilly, of the sort seen in this very movie's water-skiing interludes.
ScreenCrush - 3/10 by Matt SingerNo movie with Dennis Quaid holding a basset hound's ears to keep them out of his water bowl while pouring himself some coffee can be all bad. Jaws 3-D comes pretty close.
Washington Post - 3/10 by Gary ArnoldA toothless, tedious farce which deserves to sink without a trace.
