User Review - 10/10 by Ralph Rand 50 yrs. later Roger Corman still can't make movies. and It didn't quite conquer the world. A cave and a few boulders, and a dirt field.
User Review - 10/10 by Jay DThis is a classic and the lovely Beverly Garland is stunning. If you don't appreciate older cinema for what it is, then don't even bother posting a score. The older generation did it first. A+
User Review - 10/10 by Andrew GI have never forgiven "MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE 3000" for mocking this movie. If you look at the (hilarious) monster alone, this may seem like another desperate 1950s 'alien invasion' sci-fi movies made in the phenomina of "THE WAR OF THE WORLDS". But what makes this movie unique is that the way the alien conquers us is actually terrifying. It can control what we are most reliant on - technology. Not only that, but it can slowly control our minds and make us fight among ourselves and cuase us to panic, until the world is in shambles. A real hidden gem. Not avaiable on DVD (yet) but you can easily buy the VHS on the Internet. If you like old sci-fi movies than this is one you HAVE to get!
User Review - 8/10 by Private UAll-time schlock classic. As Frank Zappa said of this film, "The focus of evil in this movie is a monster that is confined to a cave and looks like an inverted ice-cream cone with flippers stuck on it." We miss you, Frank.
User Review - 8/10 by Jeff BEntertaining Trash Movie with a real funny Monster and Lee Van Cleef and Peter Graves as Western-like Enemys in Combination with the Guys of MST3000 making Jokes about them this is real Fun
User Review - 8/10 by Vincent PBeverly Garland makes what would be otherwise ridiculous believable... until IT actually teeters out of the cave. What a hoot.
User Review - 6/10 by Daniel MPeter Graves fights a giant turnip in Bronson Canyon! Don't miss it!
User Review - 6/10 by James BAh, the days in which men zipped around the countryside in old cars on seemingly ineffectual missions and fought off alien intruders while wearing unscathed business suits, all while willingly being swept up into the Cold War fears as easily as they sweep their wives up into their arms. The movie holds some strong moments, some surprising things for an American B-film of the mid 1950s, including a woman directly attacking the alien while telling her she will see it in hell, allusions to rape, and a man set on fire. Despite these moments and some cool looking control creatures that look like manta rays, the movie falls into the trap of being yet another jaded, fearful existential Cold War allegory.
User Review - 6/10 by Sylvester KNice little flick with the added bonus of having one of the worst movie monsters. EVER! Very watchable and not only for Corman fans.
User Review - 6/10 by Phil HA really goofy B-Movie, but what makes it stand out from the rest is the fact that Lee Van Cleef, Peter Graves and Beverly Garland are putting their all into it, giving the best performances they possibly can to make up for the fact that the monster is so silly-looking and has bat-shaped parasites that are clearly flying around on strings. The script is really nothing that great, but the performances and Garland's strong, proactive wife are really well worth watching. Also Van Cleef's face.
