What Would Toto Watch? - 9/10 by Christian TotoInto Temptation treats Catholocism - and its audience - with a great deal of respect.
Variety - 8/10 by Rob NelsonA Catholic-themed indie of occasionally irreverent wit, Into Temptation is appropriately tough to resist.
Denver Post - 7/10 by Lisa KennedyInto Temptation doesn't break ground as a story, even one about redemption. Even so, Coyle's understanding of the pastoral work of the parish priest is refreshing.
User Review - 10/10 by Zarinah HDon't be misled by the title - this is a compelling and engaging human drama. "Into Temptation" is one of those movies that I will watch again to get the other hidden meanings underlying the story, and this is a complex tale that explores myriad issues. Jeremy Sisto plays a Catholic priest in a poor parish, Father John who hears a disturbing confession from a troubled woman, prostitute Linda (Kristin Chenoweth). Linda relates her sexual abuse at the age of 12 by her stepfather, and other intimate details before proclaiming her intent to kill herself on her birthday. Instead of granting her absolution, John tries to get more details from Linda (who does not identify herself in the confessional, and the only thing John glimpses is her crucifix and the sound of her unique sultry voice) but she leaves suddenly, and John is left feeling tormented and guilty, obsessed with finding her and helping her before its too late. There are basically two main parallel story lines, as John's harried attempts to find Linda plays alongside Linda's methodical approach to her birthday and its significance. John's search for Linda is tinged with humor as he finds himself exploring some rather dubious areas, such as the red light district and a porn establishment. This predictably lands him in trouble with the Archbishop, and his one ally in the church is another priest, Fr Ralph (Brain Baumgartner) from a more affluent parish. John's relationship with his fellow parishioners are also explored, especially with a jobless African American man who is enlisted in the search efforts for Linda. Both Jeremy Sisto and Kristin Chenoweth bring a measure of depth and credibility to their respective roles and the rest of the cast are also well-played. I felt this was a sad movie - there is some sporadic humor throughout, but what was heartbreaking to watch was the empty soul that is Linda, a damaged soul who is quite certain she wishes to end it all, and who reflects that she would write a suicide note, but who would read it? The beginning of the movie has a group of children at first communion, and the ending of the movie features the same scene but with elaboration, and I have to say that this last scene in the movie neatly tied up all that the movie was - and it packs one heck of an emotional wallop. This is a compelling movie that explores issues of faith, redemption, and absolution. Highly recommended!

User Review - 10/10 by Kenny NForget everything you thought you knew about Kristin Chenowith. It's almost like she's a different person here. It's a phenomenal transformation. The always dependable Sisto turns in another underrated performance. This film has great Christian themes, but due to language and scenes of nudity and pornography (none of it gratuitous, all serving the story), it won't likely reach a Christian audience. One of the most heartbreaking indie dramas I've ever seen. Bravo to everyone involved.
User Review - 10/10 by Rachel NBrilliant little Indie film. A must see for Jeremy Sisto's amazing performance.
User Review - 10/10 by Gregory Bone of those rare movies that breaks your heart. touching performance from jeremy sisto..kristin chenoweth is amazing as always.
User Review - 10/10 by Mark AHeartbreakingly sad film about a woman seeking absolution from a priest unable to give it. Powerful emotions are in play with this multi-layered story that easily could have slid into a lurid sex tale but managed to stay above the fray. Explores the power of forgiveness and random acts of kindness that can change lives. Jeremy Sisto as the jaded priest who finds new purpose and Kristen Chenowith as the young woman were superb. The supporting cast performed ably and the dark streets of Minneapolis served as the backdrop for this morality tale. Surprisingly well done, and extremely tasteful, respectful treatment of a very sensitive subject. Wow!
User Review - 10/10 by Vanessa JI love this film. It's a simple story of a priest trying to save the life of a sullen prostitute. As the story plays out, we find that a simple act of kindness can make all the difference for any soul, no matter how depraved they are. Jeremy Sisto, mirroring his Law & Order character only with more caring, plays the priest trying to do anything he can ethically to save this poor woman's soul. This puts him at odds with his own congregation and hierarchy, which mirrors the old adage "Don't Rock The Boat, Baby". I was pleasantly surprised to say that the film turned out much as I wanted to, not where some horny priest tries to satisfy his earthly desires with a female and somehow mistakes that for love. Overall, this film succeeded all expectations and it goes to show that in Hollywood isn't always in the mood to bash religion at every turn. An atypically brilliant that everybody must see in my opinion.
