The universe unfolds a little differently in Japantown. It operates in a way you couldn't possibly understand. Oh, it works fine for the most part but every great once in a while in needs a helping hand. That's where Tenshi and Lucy come in. He's an obnoxious 400-year-old spirit from old Japan who has a foul mouth and a propensity for petty theft. She is his apprentice, a naive young woman who stepped out of 1940s Japantown into the modern world. Together, these two unseen spirits will wander in and out of the lives of residents. From a vignette about a couple reuniting after 20 years to one about two immigrants communicating without a common language to a story about an angry young woman who has finally met her match, Lucy and Tenshi work their behind-the-scenes magic. Sometimes they succeed in keeping Japantown running smoothly, sometimes they fail. But no matter what they will change and connect the lives of dozens of people - whether they like it or not.
