User Review - 10/10 by Maxi BVery cool inside look at MacGowan. Music of course is to die for.
User Review - 10/10 by Ryan Mmy all-time favourite movie it is at times funny and at others it is kinda depressing i might be a bit biased because he was the frontman of one of my favourite groups but anyway i strongly suggest you seeit as it will help you gain a greater appreciation for the genius of shane macgowan
User Review - 10/10 by Nicholas AThe Pogues were a staple in my my 80s and 90s diet, and I still play a few of their songs regularly. It's tough to sympathize totally with Shane's demise, but the film does give us a glimpse of his tarnished brilliance.
User Review - 8/10 by Charlie sFilming, cutting, editing, and interviewing is sub-par, but the subject matter is beautiful. Just look at the cover!
User Review - 8/10 by Nicola PShane is great, even I have never seen him sober in this film/documentary. Nice to hear his songs. Sometimes is a bit depressing for his addiction to alcohol and his dental situation.
User Review - 8/10 by Denver PGreat documentary about the life of Shane and his career with the Pogues. Interviews with his parents, wife, band members, Elvis Costello, Nick Cave and others. Lots of old video footage as well as a few full song videos. Such a shame he did so much smoking, drugs and drinking. Even in this 90 minutes film you don't ever see him sober. But it was nice to see a small behind the scenes of the man who WAS the Pogues. With the money he made I'm sure he could have done something with his teeth, but I suppose that's a trademark of his. Learn from it, don't do heroin, lol.
User Review - 8/10 by Amanda Bhis teeth terrify me, his laugh cracks me up. and his music makes me dance a jig!
User Review - 8/10 by Simon MBack in my high school days, there were loads of chicks who were hot for Shane MacGowan (I sh*t you not). I didn't really care about the Pogues at the time. All the skins and chelseas liked 'em. I was into Joy Division, but I digress. Years pass, and I warmed up to the Pogues' music. It was fun and all, but that's it, big deal. And then I saw this documentary and I changed my mind. I was wrong. MacGowan comes out as a troubled but soulful artist. Incoherent to most, but not in his music. And the beauty of "Fairytale in New York" never hit me until I saw this. Enlightening for the uninitiated.
User Review - 8/10 by David SDepressing documentary about Shane MacGowen and the Pogues. Clearly he was one of the great lyracists of his time. Would he have been already forgotten or even better without being pickled the whole time?
User Review - 8/10 by Courtney Bthe live footage of the pogues is great. i enjoyed watching his teeth disappear over time. anyway, i love the man. what is amazing is how great he is still with the popes. same formula, same songwriter...
